Function:
The Education Center Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for the Education Center and plays an essential role in supporting student success. This position assists prospective and enrolled students to connect them with College programs, services, and resources that support their educational goals. This position helps ensure the Education Center operates as a welcoming, student-centered environment. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping students, enjoys building relationships, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
Organizational Relationship:
The Education Center coordinator reports to the Director of the Education Center, who reports to the Dean of Enrollment Services, who reports to the Vice President of Student Services, who reports to the College President.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelors degree preferred; Associate degree with two years of related experience considered.
- Strong commitment to serving students and helping individuals achieve their educational and career goals.
- Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Commitment to the mission of the community college and student success.
- Willingness to support student engagement activities, outreach efforts, and College events.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel within the College district as needed.
Preferred:
- Experience in higher education, student services, customer service, or community-based work.
- Experience supporting events, outreach activities, or community engagement efforts.
- Familiarity with student information systems or educational technology platforms.
- Experience working collaboratively with schools, community organizations, or local businesses.
Essential Functions:
- Assist students with admissions, registration, placement testing, course selection, and general enrollment processes.
- Identify student needs and connect individuals with appropriate College or community support services.
- Support student persistence through follow-up, communication, and relationship-building.
- Assist students with College technology systems including myKC, Canvas, and online registration tools.
- Support recruitment and outreach activities including events and student engagement efforts.
- Represent the College at assigned school visits, community events, and outreach activities.
- Assist in maintaining positive relationships with local schools, community organizations, and partner agencies.
- Assist with daily operations of the Education Center to ensure a welcoming and organized environment.
- Assist with maintaining equipment and supplies for the Center.
- Assist with the development of community education and KICK Classes
- Assist with providing supportive services to faculty, students and community members.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with basic reporting related to Center activity.
- Supervise student workers and provide basic direction as needed.
- Serve as the on-site College representative in the absence of the Director.
- Provide support at other College locations as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Position supervises student workers and custodial staff as necessary.
Supervisor Controls:
While consultation with the Center Director is available as necessary, the employee must be able to work independently and with a minimum amount of supervision. In addition, the employee must be able to use independent judgement in dealing with and setting priorities for routine responsibilities and challenges that may arise.

Employee is required to follow all Kaskaskia College policies and procedures, local, state, and federal laws. Employee is also expected to adhere to and promote the College Core Values of learning, respect, excellence, access, diversity, integrity and community.
Personal Relationships:
Employee deals extensively with College employees, community members, students and outside organizations on a daily basis.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Scheduled work hours are Monday - Thursday 10:00 AM - 8:30 PM (off Fridays) OR Monday - Thursday 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM and Friday's 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM with some flexibility depending on class schedules each semester. This position operates in a busy Education Center environment with frequent student interaction, interruptions, and changing priorities. Evening hours are required. Occasional travel within the district may be required. Physical requirements include light lifting of materials and supplies up to 50 pounds.
